How I help you break-free from the people-pleasing cycle

Acceptance Commitment Therapy

One of the main modalities I utilize is Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). Why is ACT effective in supporting people-pleasers and perfectionists? ACT is an evidence-based, action-oriented therapeutic intervention that promotes being in the present moment through mindfulness. Studies show that ACT is effective in reducing the impact of anxiety, allowing you to move through your life while fully experiencing your feelings.

Exposure Therapy

I incorporate Exposure Therapy to help clients confront and gradually become desensitized to their fears and anxieties. This approach is particularly beneficial for reducing avoidance behaviors and increasing confidence in handling anxiety-provoking situations. Exposure Therapy empowers you to face challenges head-on, ultimately reducing the impact of anxiety on your daily life.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

I also utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. CBT is highly effective for identifying and challenging negative thoughts, which can lead to improved emotional regulation and coping strategies. By combining these approaches, we can address the underlying beliefs and behaviors that contribute to perfectionism and people-pleasing.

Holistic Therapy & Mindfulness

I also integrate mindful and holistic therapeutic practices to address the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. This includes mindfulness techniques to enhance self-awareness and reduce stress, as well as holistic approaches that consider the interconnectedness of your overall well-being

My approach is Person-Centered and Partnership-Oriented, meaning I place great emphasis on creating a therapeutic relationship built on empathy, respect, and collaboration. I believe that you are the expert on your own life, and together, we can navigate your path to a more fulfilling and balanced life.

Furthermore, my practice is grounded in social justice principles. I am committed to anti-racism and LGBTQ+-affirming practices, ensuring that therapy is a safe and inclusive space for all individuals. I employ various social justice lenses to understand and address the broader systemic factors impacting your mental health and well-being.
